Definitions

Conditioning

Definition: the process of training to become physically fit by a regimen of circuit, interval and endurance sessions to improve work capacity.

Mobility

Definition: is strength through range of motion. i.e. the ability to move or be moved freely and easily

Myofascial release

Definition: Myofascial Release is a safe and very effective technique that involves applying gentle sustained pressure into the muscle and Myofascial connective tissue restrictions to eliminate pain and restore motion. Think similar to a massage therapy but without the use of oils and creams and can be performed on one’s self with simple implements.

Programming

Definition: Programming is a planned set of movements, set and rep schemes which are designed to produce a specific training effect to meet an individual’s physical goals. e.g. Hypertrophy based programming to build muscle and “tone” one’s body.

Training

Definition: A physical activity done with a longer-term goal in mind, the accumulation of workouts which are specifically designed to reach that goal. If a program of physical activity is not designed to get you stronger, more powerful, faster or better conditioned by producing a specific stress to which a specific desirable adaptation can occur, it is exercise as opposed to training. Exercise and training are two different things. Exercise is a physical activity for its own sake, a workout done for the effect it produces today, during the workout or right after you’ve completed it.
